Logging it every day

  • Packaged foods: scan the barcode. Products sold in Lebanon are already in the library from Open Food Facts, available under the Open Database License (ODbL).
  • Home cooking: family recipes rarely match a database entry, so build the dish once in the recipe builder and log a serving.
  • Anything else: read the nutrition label with your phone's camera, or type it in once.
  • Your targets: calorie and macro targets start from your latest weigh-in and goal. They are fitness estimates for adults 18 and over, not medical or dietary advice, and your food log is private.

Questions people ask.

How many calories are in hummus?

About 307 kcal per 100 g for houmous in the UK food composition data the app uses, with 6.8 g protein, 15.4 g carbs and 26.7 g fat. A tablespoon is roughly 15 g, about 46 kcal. Homemade hummus varies with how much tahini and olive oil goes in, so a recipe of your own is the most accurate.

Can I find tabbouleh if I spell it tabouli?

Yes. Search understands common spellings and regional names, so tabbouleh and tabouli, hummus and hommus, labneh and labaneh all find the same foods.

How do I log a mezze spread?

Add each dish you ate on its own, at the time you ate it: a portion of hummus, two falafel, some tabbouleh. If you make the same spread often, save those foods as a saved meal and log it again whenever you eat it.

Is Lebanese food good for weight loss?

Lebanese food has plenty of vegetables, legumes and grilled meat, and plenty of olive oil, tahini and bread. What matters for weight is the total over the week, so logging what you eat shows where the calories come from without cutting any dish out.
